Richard Helzer – Special Programs Coordiantor
Richard Helzer is the former Professor and Director of the School of Art at Montana State University and is currently Professor Emeritus at MSU and Special Programs Coordinator for the Pieve International School. Helzer received his MFA from the University of Kansas and is a practicing sculptor. His work is included in 25 permanent collections around the world. Helzer has won 15 grants and awards for his artwork and has had eleven solo exhibitions. Most recently Helzer completed a major sculpture commission for the Angelo Musco School in Catania, Sicily. The steel and wood sculpture adorns the front gate of the school and was commissioned by one of the most influential art promoters in Italy, Antonio Presti. Helzer spent two years working off and on in Sicily and the sculpture was realized and dedicated in 2007.
